Events Events in Spokane: March 24, 2018- Spokane Benefit Banquet. Please contact us for more information. —————————- Events in Oregon: Jan. 20, 2018, 12-2 PM, PORTLAND LUNCHEON, Location TBA. Title: The Grief We Call PTSD Description: Enduring any length of abuse, whether physical or psychological, is a form of trauma. It is not uncommon for survivors of domestic violence to develop symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and to struggle long-term. What if PTSD is really a form of grief? When we experience a traumatic event, we experience profound losses. Symptoms of (normal) grief are as similar and strong as they are for PTSD. Kimberly believes, with other mental health professionals, that the abuse community should start looking at PTSD through the lens of normal and necessary grief. For many survivors, it is the missing piece to the puzzle of healing PTSD symptoms. Abuse recovery is about grief recovery. BIO: Kimberly is board-certified pastoral counselor who ministers extensively to abuse survivors. She received her MA in specialized ministry from Western Seminary. She is dedicated to bringing hope and restoration to those struggling with abuse, body image, and food addiction. She has ministered to women for over 14 years, from within prison walls to youth centers, inspiring others to empower God to meet their emotional and spiritual needs. Kimberly has authored or contributed to 16 books. RSVP here. —— May 19, 2018- STOMP OUT ABUSE 5/10K walk/run.
